Port-A-Recall is a small, inexpensive way to locate the quail on your property all during of the year. With the push of a button it sounds off with either the FALL COVEY-UP CALL or the SUMMER MATING CALL of the male BOBWHITE.
We had a lot of fun testing the prototypes this summer.
One afternoon, during the peak of the nesting season, we called five different cock birds out of the fields surrounding our warehouse. Once the birds had staged up around me, I activated the Fall Covey Up call because it sounds similar to a Lone Hen Call made during the summer.
The cock birds literally ran toward me and my video camera putting on quite a show. They began frantically chasing each other around, trying to eliminate their competitors and win the "hand of the hen" in the box. This was really a hoot to watch.
Further tests were conducted early in the morning or during late evening through the end of the breeding season. We always got a vocal response from the males except during rainstorms or extremely windy conditions.
The Port-A-Recall will have many uses.

- During the fall and winter months you can select the FALL COVEY-UP CALL to determine where your coveys are hanging out. The best time of day to use Port-a-Recall will be early in the morning or late evening.

- During the summer months you can use the SUMMER MATING CALL to find out what part of the property is holding birds. I used it on my place and found out where my quail were concentrated. Once I had that information, I examined the habitat structure in those areas and gained an insight as to how I might be able to improve the habitat in the lesser used areas.

- The Port-A-Recall can also be used in census work. It will stimulate early morning calling during fall counts, and aid in bobwhite whistle counts in the summer.
